Friisvegen (the Friis road) is a road that crosses the Venabygd mountain between the Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen valleys. It is known for its spectacular views on the top (which is why it is also called the panoramic road).
This RLV starts at Øyer in the Gudbrandsdal valley, and follows the valley up to Ringebu (the start of the Friis road). This part is very flat and mostly follows the river (although it takes a small "detour" up into one of the valley sides to give you a better view of the valley).
Just before Ringebu you pass the old Ringebu stave church (built around year 1220, it is one of 28 remaining stave churches in Norway), and then the real hill starts. At first you do some climbing in the forest, but suddenly you find yourself above the timberline, and you understand why the road is called the panoramic road. You ride through the tundra for a while, before starting on the descent down to the Skjerdingen mountain hotel.
This RLV is filmed with four cameras, making a full 360 degree view. This view is always visible in the bottom of the video, so you can always look what's going on behind you or to the sides. And on the mountain you can take in the full panoramic view.
This RLV is only available as a download version and for selected countries on USB stick. After payment is booked you will receive the necessary download link.
