This tour leads from Briançon over the Izoard Pass road to Guillestre and then as the 14th stage of the Tour de France in 2014 up to Risoul and is with a total ascent of 2000 meters a heavy cycling. The track begins with a slope of 12%, but soon goes back to 10% and at the edge of a canyon of Cerveyette it even goes downhill shortly. Until Cervières then slopes up to 10% alternate with flatter sections. Behind Le Lans it is again steeper, the forest cover is declining. Until you reach the pass, you will pass the Refuge Napoléon and get a look at the stone obelisk in honor of the builders of the road. The attraction of departure is the "Casses Désertes" a huge boulder carpet on the mountain hillside, which is probably unique in the Alps. The Izoard then ends in Guillestre, but the tour goes on around 800 m up to Risoul where Rafal Majka won the stage.
