Where once snorted steam locomotives, today we ride through the unique volcanic landscape of the Eifel from the Moselle valley to Daun. From a lovely vineyard landscape it goes over viaducts and countless bridges, through tunnels and cool deep Eifler forests, past deep blue crater lakes and extinct volcanoes.
The route starts in Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle and is the first 20 km to Wittlich still quite flat before one gains in the next 20 km about 300 hm. After that, it gets flat again and even goes something downhill. Once again, it goes uphill and the tour reaches its highest point just before Daun and finally ends with a 3-km long descent into the village.
