The Murgtal cycle path or Tour de Murg is the most popular cycle route in the Murg valley. It leads a good 60 kilometers along the Murg between Rastatt and Freudenstadt. However, we do not drive like the recreational cyclists and family route downhill, but tackle the sporting challenge uphill.
The route leads from Rastatt via Kuppenheim, Oberndorf and Gaggenau to Gernsbach and from there through Obertsrot, Hilpertsau and Langenbrand to Forbach. Then we continue past Schönmünzach and Huzenbach to Klosterreichenbach and Baiersbronn until we finally reach our destination in Freudenstadt. Incidentally, if we save the last kilometer, that's 100 meters less (with up to 20% slope).
The tour is very varied, the villages are consistently pretty to see and the Murgtal is partly wide and open, but partly also narrow and wooded.
