The Nufenenpass is with its 2478 meters above sea level, the highest intra-Swiss Pass. He is also the shortest route from the Ticino to the Valais. It is because of the high risk of avalanches the pass with the shortest opening time (app. beginning of July to end of October).
The tour starts in Airolo and first rises slowly, interrupted by flatter parts. It leads through Fontana and Ossasco, passing Bedretto to All'Acqua. Here it becomes increasingly steep with average values of 8-9%. After 23 km the pass is reached and the descent is partly steeply down to Ulrichen.
